How to Join a Chapter

Joining a local chapter is easy.

Use our Locate a Chapter tool or check our list of chapters and go to their website. Each chapter will have information on how to join on their website.

Some will have an online membership tool and others will have a paper form to fill out and turn in.

Check out their Board of Directors. Most chapters will have a Membership Director who can assist you with any questions. If they do not have a Membership contact, you should feel free to contact anyone on their board to assist you.

You can join several chapters if you want to, however, you can only designate one chapter as your home chapter.

You can “affiliate” (name a home chapter) either by filling out a form on your local chapter’s site, asking the Membership director for an affiliation form, or by contacting SHRM National and alerting them of your home chapter.

We provide HR professionals with information on local, statewide and national HR events, resources, initiatives and legislation to assist you in your day-to-day HR duties. For those who serve on local chapter boards, we are also here to assist you in your leadership role. We are a 100% volunteer council that takes a strategic approach to advance the profession and serve the HR professional.
